Lindsay Binegar:At 18, bought a $40,000-House

 
Lindsay Binegar had been saving her winnings from 4-H competitions since she was 4-years-old , and at 18 she had saved up enough to purchase a $40,000 residence, with cash, according to Dispatch.com.

She began earning money by raising a few hogs every year on their family farm in Highland County, show them at competitions and add any winnings or sales proceeds to her savings account. According to her dad, she had been tight and always been big into 4-H and that every money she made she always add to her savings account in the bank. This included $15,540 for showing the reserve champion and grand champion hogs at the county fair in recent years.

Rima Fakih Pole Dancing

Star Magazine reported that Michigan's Rima Fakih won a contest for pole dancing in 2007 at the Coliseum strip club.

The contest was sponsored by the radio show "Mojo in the Morning". The show's head DJ said, “The strippers there taught the contestants how to do moves like ‘booty poppin’ and pole dancing. Rima told us at the time that she was a model — and her routine was awesome! She definitely deserved to win.”

Mojo In The Morning reports that they have been contacted by people from the Miss Universe headquarters asking for more information about the pole dancing contest. They say they asked if her title was in danger, and did not receive an answer.

Lucky for her, Fakih has nothing to worry about. Donald Trump has no plans to get rid of her like he did Carrie Prejean. He was fine with it since Rimia Fakih was fully clothed. Trump stated, “We back her to the hilt."

Trey Smith

 The Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday featured Trey Smith, Will and Jada Pinkett .Trey talked about the tight-knit nature of the family. In 1992, Will Smith married Sheree Zampino, and together they had Willard "Trey" Christopher Smith III. The two divorced in 1995.

Trey told Oprah that while Will Smith was in China to help his son, Jaden, film the remake of The Karate Kid, Will flew back to California to catch every one of Trey's high school football games. Trey appeared in Will's music video for "Just the Two of Us" in 1998, but so far he hasn't followed his father into show business.

So far the Lakers bench has outscored the Suns, 18-13.

Sasha Vujacic entered the game at the 6:31 mark, his first appearance since getting hurt in the final regular season game. Robin Lopez, the Suns center, has also done well so far and has six points and two boards.

In his news conference before the game Phil Jackson talked about the report in The Times on Monday that Kobe Bryant recently needed to have his knee drained of fluids.

"It's a concern, we're dealing with it and think we have it under control," Jackson said. Bryant has had his knee drained one or two times before and Jackson said, but would not say when the latest procedure occurred, other than to say "a ways back."

George Whitefield

Indiana University East associate professor of communications Jerome Mahaffey will be a guest on the Glenn Beck show, "Founding Founders' Friday" at 5 p.m. Friday on FOX News, Channel 52 on the Richmond Comcast cable system.

Mahaffey was a guest on the series to discuss the founding fathers of the American Revolution. The episode, which was filmed at Fox Studios in New York Tuesday night, involved a conversation on George Whitefield, an influential minister in America from 1740 to 1770 - a time when there was no "separation" of church and state, Mahaffey said.

Whitefield (pronounced Whit-field) was a forgotten founder, without whom there would have been no American Independence in 1776, Mahaffey added.

Generally, Whitefield is justly criticised in connection with his work amongst the first Africans in America.

He did not fight against slavery. At the Orphanage he built in Bethesda, Georgia, he purchased slaves, who although they were treated well, were nevertheless, slaves.

Whitefield felt his responsibility was to preach to slave owners, and to correct abuses.

He certainly didn’t agree with the harsh treatment of slaves, but whether he acquiesced with the institution, or whether he merely felt he could do nothing, his failure to use his influence to end slavery, or even begin a serious debate to end slavery, was certainly a sin of omission on his part.

Lena Horne Funeral

Jazz great Lena Horne, who died Sunday at age 92, was remembered by hundreds of mourners at New York's St. Ignatius Loyola church on Friday (May 14).

Among those who honored Horne were singers Alicia Keys and Janet Jackson. Keys gives Horne credit for being a heavy influence on the music industry and women. When Horne passed Janet Jackson tweeted ‘The passing of Lena Horne, a remarkable woman, is truly a great loss.’

"[She] was so many ideas existing all at the same time, in the same space, and they were all conflicting, and they were all true," Lumet said, according to reports. "I've tried to sum her up and I can't. ... Summing up really means it's over, and I think she's not over and that she's quite infinite."

Yeardley Love Funeral

 Thousands of people come out today for Yeardey Love's funeral in North Baltimore, the slain University of Virginia lacrosse player's hometown, according to the Baltimore Sun. Friends, relatives and classmates turned out to pay their respects for the 22-year-old who was found dead in her apartment early Monday morning.

An ex-boyfriend and Virginia men's lacrosse player, George Huguely, 22, of Chevy Chase, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in her slaying.

The killing shook the campus and members of the nationally respected men's and women's lacrosse teams, many of whom were close with Love. Julie Myers, the head coach of the women's lacrosse team, stood up before tearful mourners to deliver a eulogy that was filled with gratitude for having known and coached Love.

Bethenny Frankel's baby was born one month earlier than expected. People magazine confirmed the news that Frankel and her husband Jason Hoppy had a baby girl on Saturday May 8th, 2010.
The baby girl reportedly weighed in 4lbs 12oz. A name has not yet been revealed, but we will update once we find out additional information.
This is the first baby girl for Bethenny and her new husband Jason Hoppy. The couple married on March 28th of 2010 at The Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan.

Starlin Castro

Today, according to Enrique Rojas, the Chicago Cubs
will call up uber-prospect Starlin Castro. He’ll likely take over the
starting shortstop duties in short order, with Ryan Theriot moving
over to second base.

Castro, who was hitting .376 at Class AA Tennessee with 20 RBI, will replace Ryan Theriot at shortstop. Theriot, who is hitting .341, will move to second, pushing Mike Fontenot to the bench.

At 20 years and 44 days old today, Castro will become the youngest Cub to make his major league debut since Oscar Gamble on August 27, 1969 at the age of 19 years, 250 days. In addition, Castro will be the youngest to make his debut with the Cubs as a shortstop, surpassing Marty Shay at 20 years, 144 days on September 16, 1916. Since 1920, only 18 players have made their major league debut as a Cub at a younger age than Castro.

 WASHINGTON, D.C. - A food company is recalling lettuce sold in 23 states, including Maryland, and the District of Columbia because of an E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least 19 people, three of them with life-threatening symptoms.

The recall has been issued to the following states:
Alabama, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Victim of Chimp Attack Discharged from Hospital

 Charla Nash,  a Connecticut woman whose face was left virtually featureless after she was mauled by a friend's chimpanzee has been discharged from the Cleveland Clinic. She took a private plane Thursday to Boston to an assisted-living residence where she will undergo physical and occupational therapy to "learn skills that will hopefully allow her to be independent," said William Monaco, Nash's attorney.

Nash was attacked in November 2009, when her friend and employer, Sandra Herold, asked for help luring her 200-pound ape, Travis, back into the room-sized cage she kept in her suburban home.
